The selected Advanced Electrical Engineer (Substation Design) will provide engineering for complex substation projects. This includes designs and calculations for electrical layouts, AC & DC systems, grounding, oil containment, relay & control schematics and wiring diagrams, conduit layouts, control building layouts, lightning protection, SCADA, and one-line diagrams. Direct the activities of a design work group to accomplish a large amount of work in accordance with meeting required need dates of substation projects. Make field inspections of substation projects to determine compliance with engineering design, and coordinate construction activities to meet scheduled need dates. Obtain all needed materials and equipment for substation projects. Prepare estimates and schedules for substation projects. Reviews manufacturer's drawings for compliance to FE specifications. Reviews and updates Substation Design Standards. Determine ways to reduce costs of substation projects by using innovative and creative design.

Qualifications:

  • Must have good electrical equipment and control systems aptitude and be able to apply technical skills to solve practical problems.
  • A Professional Engineer's License is preferred but not required
  • BS Electrical Engineering
  • Must be able to analyze data, write technical reports and develop recommendations as well as the ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Must have effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Exhibits meticulous attention to detail. Is committed to producing accurate and high-quality work.
  • Committed to exceeding quality standards and providing exceptional products and services.
  • Strong project management background. Experience overseeing all aspects of the project, including planning, resource allocation, and budget.
  • Sets aggressive goals and inspires team members to achieve beyond their own expectations.
  • Synthesizes all forms of research into clear, thoughtful, actionable deliverables
  • Easily analyzes and prioritizes information, distilling it to the critical issues and drawing accurate conclusions.
  • Must be able to work in a substation environment with absolute safety awareness.
  • Must be able to work extended hours unsupervised and be willing to travel, overnight on occasion.
