Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. (AECI) is owned by and provides wholesale power to six regional and 51 local electric cooperative systems in Missouri, northeast Oklahoma and southeast Iowa that serve more than 800,000 customers. AECI’s mission is to provide an economical and reliable power supply and support services to its members with the vision of being the nation’s lowest-cost wholesale power supplier.

We currently are seeking applicants for a System Operator in our Engineering & Operations Division.

Responsibilities will include dispatching and operating electric generating plants, monitoring and operating the AECI power system and tracking power sales and purchases to and from other companies. A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Pre-Engineering, or a related field or 5 years equivalent experience as a power system operator. The successful candidate must possess or obtain all necessary Power System Operator certifications within twelve months. Applicants must have a high level of intellectual ability, above average reasoning, good communications and decision making skills, reasonable mathematical, electrical and mechanical aptitude. The candidate must have the ability to use a computer terminal to monitor and operate the power system.

This position is located in the Springfield, Missouri operations center. The successful candidate must live within reasonable commuting distance. This position requires rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
